Railfanning Altoona? The Curve? Gallitzin? Johnstown?  We have a place for you!

4 O’clock Afternoon Tea is no longer served at The Inn.  Some B&B guides have tampered with our 5 star rating because of this. Tea time has changed. We welcome tasters of wine, beer and stronger waters to join us at 4:00 for an afternoon BYO gathering of serious railfans.  Same time as Afternoon Tea. But now, a less formal exercise.  Toast passing trains, share your railfan triumphs, challenges and defeats with other guests.  Relax & enjoy. Complimentary chips and pretzels occasionally on hand.

The goal of The Inn is to provide pleasant accommodations for rail enthusiasts. Our bed and breakfast has five two-room suites upstairs. Downstairs there is a large three room suite and two smaller single rooms. All suites and rooms have a private bath. Most rooms have a view of the Mainline. Rooms have ceiling fans, desks, coffee makers, and alarm clocks. The Inn is a different kind of B&B. It serves no home baked bread, no special jams or jellies (we once served eggs mornay Florintine). The Inn has few cozy or romantic characteristics. We do not have Jacuzzis. We have no formal gardens. There are no farm animals in the back yard.  Close to a busy railroad with heavy traffic, The Inn offers a serious escape from everyday distractions.

Guests’ friends are welcome on The Inn’s front porch for short visits.  However, all other inn spaces and amenities are reserved for the use of registered guests.  Unregistered visitors may not spend time in the Common Room or use other facilities. Unregistered visitors may use certain inn services when a visitor charge of $15.00 has been paid.

The Inn is unable to accommodate youngsters under the age of eight.

A family style breakfast is served daily.  Pancakes, omelets, sausage gravy on toast,  baked oatmeal, toasted pork roll with egg and cheese make up the basic fare.  Always on hand at breakfast…… orange juice, coffee, decaf, and eight varieties of tea. Also at breakfast, fresh fruit, English muffins, breakfast pastry, Sandy’s jam of the day, cornflakes, and ten other kinds of gourmet cold cereals.

Help yourself to complimentary soft drinks and spring water. Bottomless cookie jar and fresh fruit bowl nearby. We can accommodate the tastes of restricted foods dieters, weight loss dieters, and others with special needs. Advise us in advance of dietary restrictions.

Complimentary WiFi.  All rooms equipped with desk-top power strips. Ceiling fans. Excellent cell phone reception for most carriers.

The Inn welcomes motor homes up to 35 ft.  Space for motor homes,  campers and tenters.  220 amp hook-up available. Water connection.  Heated shower and toilet facilities. Camping: $55.00. Each additional person $25.00. We provide soap, bath towels and facecloths  ……. leave that stuff in your camper.  Camping rates include complimentary breakfast and porch and library privileges.  814-886-4757

Bikers are welcome. The Inn has a drying room for wet gear. Indoor parking for your machine must be reserved in advance. Nightly indoor parking charge: $15.00 per bike. Call 814-886-4757 to reserve indoor bike space.

The Common Room is our gathering place for guests. Here you may relax, read, enjoy TV, play railroad tapes.  You may also replay your video footage, or view  your digital stills on our  TV screen. The Common Room is stocked with railfan magazines, books, videos, and memorabilia. On hand are stacks of old railfan publications. They are brought by guests to be passed on to other ‘fans.  Take a few home with you. A supply of puzzles and board games is on hand for your enjoyment. Bring an old puzzle or game and contribute it to our collection.
